What is Windows® Vista?
Windows® Vista is the latest version of the Microsoft® Windows® family of operating systems. An operating system is the software that other programs run on top of, and amongst many other things, it helps facilitate the interaction between hardware and software.
It's important to note that Windows® Vista comes in several different editions.

Each edition has different features, so be sure to compare and choose the version that's right for you. Remember, that if you want Vista to have transparent glass effects like the one on this web site, make sure to get either Premium, Business, or Ultimate. Basic does not have these features.
What are Gadgets?
Microsoft® Gadgets are small, useful applications that reside on the Windows® Vista Sidebar. There are a wide variety of Gadgets already available, such as clocks, calculators, games, and much more. The best part about Gadgets is that most, if not all, are available to download for free. Remember, Microsoft® Gadgets are exclusively for Windows® Vista. Downloading and Adding Gadgets to your Windows Vista Sidebar
The Windows Vista Sidebar is displayed on the side of your desktop to provide you with many useful tools and gadgets that can be personalized to your interests. These mini-programs are able to offer information and media such as a picture slide show, continuously updated headlines, or access to a contacts list.
There are many gadgets already installed in the Vista Sidebar which are available for your use. To access these gadgets go to the top of your sidebar and click (+) to view the following:
By selecting any specific gadget you can easily view the details at the bottom of your screen. In order to access additional gadgets click "Get more gadgets online" at the bottom right hand corner of your screen. This will allow you to access a wider variety of tailored gadgets to meet all of your professional and personal needs.
